WINCHESTER, Va. - Feb. 29, 2020 - The Cougars (2-1) were back on the field Saturday, February 29th to take on the Hornets of Shenandoah University (3-1) in their second matchup over the weekend. Chatham recently lost to the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins 8-3 on Sunday, February 23rd.
Shenandoah came out firing, scoring six quick goals within the first half of the first quarter giving them an early 6-0 lead. The Cougars didn't answer with a goal of their own until the 2:36 mark in the first putting them on the board 6-1. Chatham continued the scoring trend in the second quarter, adding four goals to their score trailing the Hornets. The Hornets scored six goals in the second period, adding to their lead 12-4 heading into halftime.
The Griffins continued their domination into the second half, putting together seven goals in the third quarter giving them a 15 goal lead going into the final quarter. Chatham couldn't find the back of the net and fell to the Hornets 20-4 for their second loss of the season. Junior Kyle Prewitt scored two of the Cougars four goals, while sophomore Nicholas Guaglione and junior Tyler Hayes netted the other two.
The Cougars are back in action Thursday, March 5th as they will travel to take on Greensboro in a 3:00 PM matchup.
