The game opened up with both teams trading the lead within the first few minutes of the quarter, with Chatham taking a three point lead after sophomore Katie Fertig drained a ball from deep. Saint Vincent came back and answered with two straight baskets that would put the Bearcats on top of the Cougars 18-17 with a three pointer from Carlee Kilgus. The Cougars would tie Saint Vincent at the end of the first quarter 20-20.
The two teams continued to fight for much of the second quarter, but the Cougars stayed in command of the lead holding a 39-26 advantage with 2:53 left in the half. They started to pull away taking the 44-32 edge with under a minute to play in the half. Chatham went into the break with a 44-34 lead over Saint Vincent.
In the second half, the lead would begin to mount for the Cougars as they pulled ahead of Saint Vincent by as many as 16 points in the third. They went into the final quarter with a 69-62 lead over the Bearcats. In the fourth quarter, the Bearcats lead by as many as eight points. Saint Vincent would go on to beat Chatham 97-87 from a pair of free-throws at the end of the game by Megan Kallock.
Chatham was led by grad student Emily Ondo who scored 26 points, shooting 4-7 from three point range. Fertig pitched in 25 points, going 9-16 from the field. First-year Riley D'Angelo also finished in double digits with 16, 4-6 from deep.
The Cougars host Geneva in the PAC Championship Tournament Monday, February 24th. Tip off is set for 7 PM.
