Cougars On a Hot Streak of Three with Win Against Alvernia Saturday afternoon 6-3

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – Feb. 15, 2020– The Chatham University Women's Hockey team is on a hot streak of three after defeating Alvernia 6-3 Saturday afternoon at Pittsburgh Ice Arena.

RECORDS: The Cougars improve to 8-11-2 (4-7-2 UCHC) while Alvernia falls to 4-19-0 (0-15-0 UCHC).
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham continues home weekend play as they face Stevenson in a conference matchup Sunday, February 16th. Puck drop is set for 3:40 PM. Senior day recognition will begin before puck drop!

SCORING SUMMARY: Chatham scored the first goal of the contest thanks to Maddie Black, assisted by Danielle Bos.

Alvernia answered and scored a power-play goal, tying the score 1-1.

The Cougars scored a power-play goal moments later, leading 2-1 thanks to Holly Ackerman, assisted by Jennie Piotrzkowski and Kerry Carr.

Chatham scored two more goals, minutes apart of one another.

The first Cougar goal scored by Rachel Frederick, assisted by Sydney Collins. The second Cougar goal scored by Carr, assisted by Collins.

Chatham increased their lead to three heading into the second period, 4-1.

The Cougars scored just one minute into the second period thanks to Black, assisted by Ackerman and Fiona Danahy.

Three minutes later, Chatham scored another goal thanks to Bos, assisted by Collins.

Alvernia answered with seconds to spare in the second period, now trailing 6-2 heading into the third period.

Less than two minutes to play in the third period, Alvernia scored.

The Cougars defeat Alvernia 6-3.

GOALTENDING: Devon Strachan secured the victory for the Cougars making 11 saves including seven in the second period.

SHOTS LEADER: Collins led the Chatham attack with seven shots on goal.

FACEOFFS: Collins won a team high 18 face offs. Brooke Almond won 11 draws in the circle.
