Chatham Dominates Geneva in a 90-73 Road Victory

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - Feb. 15, 2020 - Chatham (14-9, 10-5) was back in action as they made their way to Beaver Falls, PA to face off against the Golden Tornadoes of Geneva (10-12, 6-7). The Cougars were coming off a down to the wire finish at home on Wednesday, February 12th where they beat Thiel 68-67.

Both teams started off the match going back and forth with the score sitting at a tie 12-12 after Lyle Tipton scored a jump shot with 13:38 left in the half. Over the next two minutes Geneva would go on a 9-0 run to go out ahead of the Cougars 21-12. Chatham would inch their way back into the game tying the score at 22-22 after sophomore Shawn Erceg scored a layup. The teams would go into the half with a two point difference, putting Chatham in the lead 40-38 at the break.

The two opponents stayed neck and neck with each other early in the second, as the score would remain tied 46-46 with 17:42 left in the game. The Cougars would put together a 7-0 run to put themselves in the lead 59-48 with 15 minutes to go in the second. Chatham never gave up the lead, and would come out on top 90-73 for their 15th win of the season. This win would also bring them to 10 conference win on the year, which is a program record at Chatham.

Junior Malik Potter was the leading scorer for the Cougars with 24 points, and first year Marcos Cintron would score a new career high as he added 22 of his own. This is the second straight game Cintron scored 20 or more points as he scored 21 on Wednesday against Thiel.

Chatham's final regular season game will be Saturday, February 22nd as they will be back in the den to take on Saint Vincent.
