PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Jan. 8, 2020 - The Cougars (8-5, 3-1) faced the Bethany Bisons (1-11, 0-3) at home on Wednesday, January 8th. Chatham was coming off a road win against Grove City on Saturday, January 4th 63-57.
The two teams battled it out the first few minutes of the game, Chatham finding themselves ahead 10 halfway through the first half. The Cougars would be on a 14-0 run for the last three minutes of the first half. The Cougars remained with the lead, clinging to a 16 point advantage into halftime thanks to a jumper from first-year
Marcos Cintron 36-20.
Sophomore
Ray Sandherr would extend Chatham's lead to 18 thirty-seconds into the second half. The Bison's started to catch up, dwindling Chatham's lead to as much as eight points with fourteen minutes to go in the game. Chatham jumped back into the driver seat, going ahead 20 after a three pointer by first-year
Elijah Sutton. They never took their foot off the gas, fighting through the back and forth battle, as the Cougars would defeat Bethany 73-68 to move to 9-5 on the season and 4-1 in the conference.
Chatham had three players in double figures against the Bison. First-year
Elijah Sutton led the way with 19 points (100% from the free throw line), while senior
Will Sandherr added 18 points, grabbed four rebounds and
Ray Sandherr pitched in 12 of his own.
The Cougars are back in action Saturday, Jan. 11th as they travel to face the Tomcats of Thiel in a PAC matchup. Tip-off is set for 3 PM.
