GREENVILLE, Pa. - Jan. 11, 2020 - The Cougars (9-5 4-1) traveled to Thiel (4-7, 2-2) to face off against the Tomcats on Saturday, January 11th in a road conference matchup. The Cougars were ridings a two game winning streak going into the match.
The first half opened with back and forth play by both teams, with Chatham going up three 13-10 after a three pointer by grad student Will Sandherr six minutes into the game. After a Chima Omeihe jumper, Thiel went back out ahead of Chatham 14-13. Thiel never looked back, as they would remain ahead for the remainder of the half, going up as many as 17 points. The Cougars trailed Thiel at halftime, losing 40-25 after one half of play.
Chatham's struggles continued in the second half, as they would find themselves down 19 points, trailing 56-37. They would cut the lead to eight with 10 minutes to play after a pair of sophomore Nick Bomar's free throws made the score 62-54. The Cougars couldn't make a full comeback, as they would fall to the Tomcats 84-73 for their second conference loss of the season.
Will Sandherr led the Cougars with 23 points, while first year Marcos Cintron added 13 points of his own. Sandherr also finished with 11 rebounds giving him a double double on the afternoon.
Chatham is back roaring in the den Wednesday, January 15th as they will face off against the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes.
