VALENCIA, Pa. – Jan. 7, 2020 – The Chatham University men's hockey team falls to Buffalo State in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening 6-2.
RECORDS: With the loss, Chatham falls to 2-13 while Stevenson improves to 6-5.
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham travels to Elmira, New York as they face Elmira in a conference matchup. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
SCORING SUMMARY: Chatham scored the first goal of the competition, twenty-one seconds in thanks to
Brendan Johns (first NCAA Collegiate goal), assisted by
Jason Bauer and
Ben Lamm.
Buffalo State scored halfway through the first period on a power-play, tying the score 1-1.
The Bengals scored another power-play goal with less than two minutes remaining in the period, leading Chatham 2-1 at the end of the first period.
The Cougars scored a minute and twenty-five seconds into the second period thanks to
Michael Lamison, assisted by
Ben Oslick.
Buffalo State answered and scored five minutes later, taking the lead over Chatham 3-2 heading into the third period.
The Bengals scored three goals in the third period. First goal was an even-strength goal. The second goal was a power-play goal and the third goal was an empty-net and power-play goal.
Buffalo State secured the 6-2 victory over the Cougars.
GOALTENDING: Ricardo Gonzalez suffered the loss tonight for the Cougars. Gonzalez recorded 31 saves, including 15 in the second period.
SHOTS LEADER: Matt Mood led the Chatham attack with five shots on goal.
FACE-OFFS: Bauer won a team best 14 faceoffs.
