ELMIRA, N.Y. – Jan. 17, 2020 – The Chatham University men's hockey team falls to Elmira in UCHC play on the road after non-conference loss last week 7-2.
RECORDS: With the loss, Chatham falls to 2-14 (1-8 UCHC) while Elmira improves to 10-3 (6-2 UCHC).
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham travels to Annville, Pa. as they face Lebanon Valley in a conference matchup. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM.
SCORING SUMMARY: Elmira scored the first goal two minutes into the contest.
The Cougars answered back, scoring minutes later thanks to
Niko Moulakelis, assisted by
Cory King tying Elmira 1-1.
Moments later, Chatham scored taking the lead 2-1 over the Soaring Eagles thanks to
Chad Bell, with another assist from King.
Elmira scored a power-play goal nearing the end of the period tying the score 2-2 heading into the second period.
One minute into the second period, the Soaring Eagles scored a power-play goal taking the lead 3-2 over Chatham.
The Soaring Eagles would score two more power-play goals in the second period and a short-handed goal making the score 6-2 at the end of second period play.
Elmira would score one more goal (power-play goal) in the third period.
The Soaring Eagles secured the 7-2 victory over the Cougars.
GOALTENDING: Ricardo Gonzalez suffered the loss tonight for the Cougars. Gonzalez recorded 26 saves, including 12 in the first period.
SHOTS LEADER: Andrew Warhoftig and Bell led the Chatham attack each with four shots on net.
FACE-OFFS: King won a team best eight faceoffs.
