After a Stagnant First Half, Cougars Surge Past Waynesburg For a 56-42 Victory

WAYNESBURG, Pa. - Jan. 29, 2020 - Chatham (11-7, 6-3) traveled to take on the Yellow Jackets of Waynesburg (4-14, 4-5) on Wednesday, January 29th in a road matchup. The Cougars were coming off a tough loss against Westminster on Saturday, January 25th where they fell to the Titans 90-80.

Waynesburg came storming out of the gates, opening the game on a 10-0 run as the Cougars would go scoreless through the first four minutes of the contest. Chatham clawed their way back, cutting the difference to four after sophomore Shawn Erceg's layup made it 12-8. Waynesburg continued to control the tempo, after Frank Bozicevic's layup gave them their largest lead of the half, 22-14. Chatham would end the half on a 9-2 run, giving the Yellow Jackets a 24-23 advantage going into the break.

The half opened with both teams going back and forth, as Chatham would emerge with a one point lead four minutes into play. They never looked back, as their lead would extend to as many as 18 points in the half giving them a 53-35 edge. Chatham would come out victorious over Waynesburg 56-42 for their 12th win of the season and 7th in conference play.

First year Marcos Cintron lead the Cougars in scoring with 15 points while junior Malik Potter added 13 points of his own.

The Cougars are back at the den Saturday, February 1st as they take on the Presidents of Washington and Jefferson. Chatham seeks revenge against the Presidents after losing earlier in the season to them 61-53.
