GENEVA, N.Y. – Jan. 26, 2020– The Chatham University women's hockey team scores two goals late in the third period in loss against William Smith 5-2 Sunday afternoon.
RECORDS: The Cougars fall to 5-11-1 (1-7-1 UCHC) while William Smith improves to 11-7-0 (7-2-0 UCHC).
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham faces Wilkes in a conference matchup on the road Saturday, February 1st. Puck drop is set for 1:30 PM.
SCORING SUMMARY: Both Chatham and William Smith remained quiet in the first period.
The Heron's scored the first goal of the contest four minutes into the second period.
William Smith would go on to score three more goals (two power-play goals) leading Chatham 4-0 entering the third period.
The Cougars found the back of the net with less than eleven minutes remaining in regulation thanks to
Holly Ackerman, assisted by
Brooke Almond.
Two-minutes later, Chatham scored another goal (power-play) thanks to Almond, assisted by
Fiona Danahy and
Grace Johnson.
The score was now 4-2 William Smith with nine minutes remaining in regulation.
The Heron's scored one more goal with less than two minutes to play in the contest (empty-net), securing the victory over the Cougars 5-2.
GOALTENDING: Katy Reed suffered the loss for the Cougars making 33 saves including 17 in the first period.
SHOTS LEADER: Kerry Carr led the Chatham attack with six shots on goal.
