LATROBE, Pa. - Jan 22, 2020 - Chatham (10-6, 5-2) was back in action as they took on Saint Vincent (9-7, 4-3) in a road conference matchup on Wednesday, January 22nd. The Cougars came into this game sitting atop the leader board for first place in the conference, after a home win over Geneva 79-69.
The Cougars jumped out ahead first, going up 17-4 after first year Elijah Sutton drained a three to put them up 13. Chatham would continue to extend their lead, as they found themselves ahead of Saint Vincent 24-7 with six minutes gone by in the half. The Bearcats would mount comeback, as they pulled within seven of Chatham after Drew Normandin went 1-2 from the line to put the score at 29-22. The Cougars would go back out ahead of Saint Vincent 50-37 heading into halftime.
Saint Vincent would come storming out of halftime, going on a 7-2 run to start the second half. The two teams continued to go back and forth, with Saint Vincent staying within six to eight points of the Cougars. Chatham would start to pull away with eight minutes to play going ahead 74-62 over Saint Vincent.
The Cougars would eventually come out victorious against Saint Vincent 95-80, moving their conference record to 6-2 and 11-6 overall.
All five starters found themselves in double figures for Chatham. Sutton led the way with 25 points, while sophomore Ray Sandherr added 20 points of his own. Graduate student Will Sandherr scored 17 while junior Malik Potter pitched in 14 and first year Marcos Cintron scored 11.
Chatham is back in action Saturday, January 25th as they make their way up to New Wilmington, PA to take on Westminster at 3:30 in a PAC matchup.
