PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Jan. 18, 2020 - The Cougars (10-4, 4-3) were back on the court Saturday, January 18th for a non-conference matchup against the Patriots of Valley Forge (3-7, 1-0). Chatham was riding a three game winning streak going into the matchup, recently taking down conference opponent Geneva College on Wednesday, January 15th in a 69-59 victory.
The game opened with an 8-0 run by the Cougars three minutes into the first quarter after first year Riley D'Angelo connected on a three. The lead would extend to as many as 10 in the first quarter, with Chatham entering the second quarter ahead of the Patriots 19-9.
Chatham would continue to pile on the points in the second quarter, as they would start the quarter on an 11-2 run to make the score 30-11. The lead would build to 26 after junior Riley Lane knocked down a deep three to put the score at 41-15 heading into the half.
The Cougars domination carried into the second half, as their lead would sky rocket to 42 points after junior Brittani Smith made a jump shot to put the score at 67-25. They would extend their winning streak to four after taking down the Patriots 73-45.
Chatham was led by Emily Ondo who had 14 points and 18 rebounds, setting a record for most rebounds in a game by a Cougar. Ondo added her 9th double double while sophomore Katie Fertig and D'Angelo each added 12 points in the victory.
The Cougars are back crashing the boards on Wednesday, January 22nd as they travel to take on PAC opponent St. Vincent in a conference matchup.
