PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Jan. 15, 2020 - The Cougars (9-6 4-2) matched up against the Golden Tornadoes of Geneva (4-1, 1-4) on Wednesday, January 15th in a PAC conference matchup. The Cougars suffered a conference loss to Thiel last game on the road 84-73.
The first half opened with back and forth play by both teams, with Chatham going up six 21-15 after a three pointer by junior Malik Potter ten minutes into the game. After a three point make by Matt Veynovich, Geneva drew closer to Chatham 26-33. Chatham never looked back, as they would remain ahead for the remainder of the half, going up as many as 14 points. The Cougars had a comfortable lead over Geneva heading into halftime, 40-26.
Chatham's successes continued in the second half, as they would find themselves ahead 23 points. Geneva would cut the lead to 11 with eight minutes to play after a jumper by Joel Stutz 59-48. The Cougars clawed their way to victory, as they would defeat the Golden Tornadoes 79-69 for their fifth conference win of the season.
Four Cougars scored in double-digits. Junior Malik Potter led the Cougars with 20 points and two steals, first year Marcos Cintron added 18 points of his own. Brothers Ray Sandherr and Will Sandherr each finished with 12 points.
Chatham travels to Latrobe, Pa. Saturday, January 22nd as they will face off against the Bearcats of Saint Vincent.
