ANGOLA, IN. – Jan. 11th, 2020– The Chatham University women's hockey team dropped their second matchup on the road to Trine 6-1 Saturday afternoon.
RECORDS: The Cougars fall to 5-7-1 while Trine improves to 5-5-3.
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham returns home to face Nazareth in a conference matchup Saturday, January 18th. Puck drop is set for 12:40 p.m.
SCORING SUMMARY: Chatham and Trine remained scoreless through the first period.
Trine would score three goals in the second period, leading Chatham 3-0.
The Cougars fought back and scored their only goal of the competition with minutes to spare in the second thanks to
Grace Johnson, assisted by
Ashley Marchant and
Brooke Almond.
Chatham trails Trine 3-1 heading into the final period of regulation.
The Thunder scored five minutes into the third period increasing their lead to three goals over Chatham.
Trine would then score two more goals, both empty-net goals to secure the victory over the Cougars 6-1.
GOALTENDING: Katy Reed suffered the loss for the Cougars making 54 saves including 22 in the third period.
SHOTS LEADER: Kerry Carr,
Holly Ackerman and Johnson
led the Chatham attack with three shots on goal each.
FACEOFFS: Maddie Black won a team high eight faceoffs while
Sydney Collins won seven draws in the circle.
