ANGOLA, IN. – Jan. 10th, 2020– The Chatham University women's hockey team drops their first matchup of 2020 to Trine 5-1 on the road Friday afternoon.
RECORDS: The Cougars fall to 5-6-1 while Trine improves to 4-5-3.
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham faces Trine in a non-conference matchup Saturday, January 11th. Puck drop is set for 2:00 p.m.
SCORING SUMMARY: Trine scored the first goal of the contest halfway through the first period.
Trine would score minutes later, leading Chatham heading into the second period 2-0.
The Thunder scored with three minutes remaining in the second period, adding to their lead over the Cougars 3-0.
The Cougars answered back three minutes into the third with a goal by
Brooke Almond, assisted by
Holly Ackerman and
Jennie Piotrzkowski.
Chatham pulled their goalie with less than thirty seconds remaining in regulation but couldn't find the back of the net.
Trine would score an empty-net goal, securing the 5-1 victory over the Cougars.
GOALTENDING: Devon Strachan suffered the loss for the Cougars making 39 saves including 12 in the second period and 14 in the third period.
SHOTS LEADER: Almond, Ackerman and
Sydney Collins led the Chatham attack with three shots on goal each.
FACEOFFS: Collins
won a team high eight faceoffs while
Ackerman went 7-9 in the circle.
