Cougars edge Crusaders 13-12 for first victory of the season

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – March 23rd, 2019 – Chatham University defeated the Madonna University 13-12 today for the first win of the season. Three unanswered goals in the final two minutes gave Chatham the 13-12 edge over the Crusaders today. The Cougars improve to 1-3, while the Crusaders fall to 2-4. 
 
THE SHORT STORY
Madonna started the game off with a quick goal. Chatham answered back with four goals of their own within the first 11 minutes of the game. Heading into halftime, Chatham held onto an 8-6 advantage over the Crusaders. Madonna would tie things up at 10-10 with 16:31 remaining in the game. The Crusaders would take a two point lead with six minutes left. Three unanswered goals in the final two minutes gave Chatham the 13-12 edge over Madonna. 
 
KEY COUGARS
Kerry Carr had an explosive day with a team-high six goals, two assists and ten ground balls. Anna Prendergast's game-winner was one of four goals today. Prendergast added one assist, three draw control victories, and two ground balls. Claire Norton, Rachel Borucki and Tifani McElhose each netted a goal in the win. Brielle Rapsas earned two assist and two ground balls. Kristen MacConnell picked up four ground ballls and two caused turnovers. Kacey Gardner finished with three caused turnovers and two ground balls. Jennie Piotrzkowski recorded two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Sam Miller was in net for the Cougars. Miller recorded an impressive 27 saves with 12 goals against.
