PITTSBURGH, Pa. – FEBRUARY 6th, 2019 – The Chatham University women's basketball team came back from a 15 point deficit early in the fourth quarter to defeat Thiel on the road 66-63. With the win, Chatham improves to 12-11 overall and 8-6 PAC.Thiel falls to 6-16 overall and 4-9 PAC.
Three Cougars scored in double figures in the comeback win. Senior
Katie Sieg finished with a team-high 21 points. Sieg added five assists, three rebounds and three steals. Graduate student
Megan Sieg put up 19 points, a team-high nine rebounds, and four steals. Senior
Ashley McClain chipped in 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Senior
Olivia Barkley grabbed eight rebounds.
The game saw five lead changes and five tied scores. At the end of the first quarter, Chatham was down 17-13. Heading into halftime, the teams were tied 30-30. In the third quarter, the Tomcats outscored the Cougars 22-12 giving Thiel a ten point lead to start the final quarter. At 7:49 in the fourth quarter, Chatham was down by 15 points. The Cougars would rally and come back to win the game by three points. Chatham outscored Thiel 24-11 in the final ten minutes.
