Scoring frenzy from Utica has Chatham on the bottom of Saturday's matchup 9-3

VALENCIA, Pa. – Dec. 7th, 2019 – The Chatham University men's hockey team falls to #8 Utica in scoring frenzy Saturday afternoon 9-3.

RECORDS: With the loss, Chatham falls to 1-11-0 (1-6-0 UCHC) while Utica improves to 6-2-2 (4-2-1 UCHC).

WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham faces Fredonia on the road Saturday, December 14th in a non-conference matchup. Puck drop is set for 4:00 p.m.

SCORING SUMMARY: The Cougars scored the first goal of the contest thanks to Chad Bell with assists from Tristan Hillebert and Noah Medalsy.

Utica answered back fifteen seconds later, tying the game 1-1.

The Pioneers scored twelve minutes through the first period once again, leading Chatham 2-1.

The Cougars answered back and scored on a power-play thanks to Matt Mood.

Utica scored a four-on-four goal, now leading the Cougars 3-2.

The Pioneers scored with one second left in the first period on a power-play, increasing their lead over the Cougars 4-2 heading into the second period.

Four minutes into the second period, Chatham scored thanks to Emerson Ducasse (first goal) assisted by Chris Lutz. Chatham cut the Pioneers lead to one.

Two minutes after the Cougars scored, Utica scored increasing their lead by a pair.

Four seconds remaining in the second period, the Pioneers scored now up three heading into the third period.

Utica would then score three goals in the third period, securing the victory 9-3.

GOALTENDING: Ricardo Gonzalez suffered the loss tonight for the Cougars. Gonzalez recorded 39 saves, including 15 in the first period and 16 in the second period.

SHOTS LEADER: Andrew Breda led the Chatham attack with four shots on goal.

FACE-OFFS: Lutz won a team best 12 faceoffs. Eric Hildebrand went 11-10 in the circle.
