PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Dec. 2, 2019 - The Cougars (5-0, 0-0) were back on the court Monday, December 2nd as they traveled to take on the Nittany Lions of Penn State Greater Allegheny (3-4, 2-1). Chatham was coming off a home victory over Mount Aloysius 88-65 for their fifth win of the season.
Things stagnated offensively for both teams early on, as the Nittany Lions and the Cougars would combine for only four points total with just over three minutes into the first quarter. Chatham emerged on top after the slow start, pulling ahead of Greater Allegheny 13-6 after a three pointer by graduate student Emily Ondo. As the first quarter came to a close, the Cougars remained on top of the Nittany Lions 15-13 heading into the second.
The second quarter was a back and forth fight between both teams, with the Nittany Lions going ahead of Chatham 22-20 with under seven minutes to play in the half. The Cougars continued to play catch up for the rest of the quarter, eventually tying the game back up 30-30 heading into the break.
Chatham started to separate themselves from the Nittany Lions in the third quarter, going up as much as 7 to make the score 45-38. Greater Allegheny would continue to battle away, cutting the Cougars' lead to two with under four minutes remaining in the game. Unable to make a full comeback, the Nittany Lions would fall to the Cougars 70-60 extending Chatham's winning streak to six. The Cougars were led by Ondo who had 19 points and first year Riley D'Angelo added 18 points of her own.
The Cougars are back dropping dimes on Wednesday, December 4th in their first conference matchup of the season as they will take on the Titans of Westminster College.
