WASHINGTON, Pa. - Dec. 18th, 2019 - The Cougars (7-1, 1-1) took on the Presidents of Washington and Jefferson (6-3, 1-1) on Wednesday, December 18th in their third conference game of the season. Chatham was coming off a win Saturday, December 7th to Waynesburg 88-70.
The first quarter opened up with Chatham finding themselves ahead early, going up 9-2 after a layup by senior Sierra Ungerman with under five minutes to go in the first quarter. Washington and Jefferson would put together a run of their own towards the end of the quarter narrowing the Cougars lead to five (20-15) going into the second. The second quarter was a back and forth battle, as Chatham would go ahead by five after a three pointer by sophomore Kaitlyn Fertig. Washington and Jefferson would trail Chatham going into the half by a score of 35-33.
Chatham would not give up their lead easily, as the President's would start to fire back at the end of the third quarter. Unable to put together a comeback, Chatham would fall by a final score 76-67, giving the Cougars their second conference loss of the season.
Emily Ondo led the way for the Cougars with 35 points, her game high and season high this year. Sophomore Katie Fertig added 23 of her own.
The Cougars are back in action against Case Western Reserve to open up the New Year on Thursday, January 2nd. They will be back in the den on Wednesday, January 8th as they will take on the Bison of Bethany.
