Men's basketball handed first PAC loss against Washington and Jefferson Wednesday evening 63-51

WASHINGTON, Pa. - Dec. 18th, 2019 - Chatham (7-2,2-0) took on the Presidents of Washington and Jefferson (6-3,1-1) on Wednesday, December 18th in their third conference game of the season. Chatham was riding a six game winning streak into the matchup most recently taking down another conference foe, Waynesburg, on Saturday, December 7th 78-56.

The Cougars clawed their way back and forth with the President's early in the first half, down as many as ten points after a jumper from Will Sandherr. Chatham would stay trailing Washington and Jefferson the rest of the half. Washington and Jefferson went into the half with a six point lead over Chatham 30-24.

Chatham continued to struggle to add points on the board in the second half, trailing 34-28 after Will Sandherr's three pointer five minutes into the second half. Junior Malik Potter would put the Cougars behind 10 after a jumper of his own to make the score 40-30. As the final seconds ticked off the clock the Cougars found themselves in a struggle to the buzzer, suffering a tough loss to Washington and Jefferson 63-51.

Grad student Will Sandherr was the leading scorer for the Cougars as he tallied 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, while first-year Marcos Cintron chipped in nine off the bench.

The Cougars are back in the den on Wednesday, January 8th against Bethany College. They will travel to Carnegie Mellon on Saturday, December 21st for a non-conference matchup at 2 PM.
