Chatham holds on to secure victory in overtime against Becker to open up 2019-20 season

PITTSBURGH, PA. – Nov. 1, 2019 – The Chatham University women's hockey team secured the victory against Becker in the 2019-20 season opener 3-2 in overtime play.
 
RECORDS: The Cougars improve to 1-0 while Becker falls to 0-1.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham faces Becker Saturday, November 2nd at Pittsburgh Ice Arena. Puck drop is set for 3:40 p.m.
 
SCORING SUMMARY: In the first period, the Cougars scored the first goal, a power-play goal, from Holly Ackerman thanks to an assist from Madison Black

Nearing the end of the first period, Becker answered and scored a short-handed goal.

The second period was quiet for Chatham.

Becker scored a goal in the second period with just minutes to spare.

The third period was quiet for Becker.

Chatham scored a goal in the third period on a power-play from Collins, thanks to an assist from Danielle Bos.

In overtime play with 1:47 seconds left to play, Kerry Carr scored the game winning goal thanks to an assist from Ashley Marchant

GOALTENDING: Devon Strachan secured the victory for the Cougars making 28 saves, including 12 in the third period.
 
SHOTS LEADER: Carr led the Chatham attack with six shots on goal.
 
FACEOFFS: Sydney Collins  won 13 draws while Black went 11-4 in the circle.
