PITTSBURGH, PA. – Sept. 1, 2018 – The Chatham University women's soccer team posted a 1-0 shutout victory over Marymount to conclude action at the Marymount University Tournament at Long Bridge Park in Arlington, Va. First year Paxton Steffy scored a goal in the sixth minute, while sophomore Ashley Bergman and the Chatham defense claimed their first shutout of the year. With the win the Cougars improve to 1-0 overall and the Saints drop to 0-2 overall in 2018.
CHATHAM STRIKES FIRST
The Cougars found an early goal in the sixth minute when Megan Sieg crossed the ball into the box off the left line, setting Steffy up to find the back of the net.
BACKLINE STRONG
The backline claimed its first shutout of the year and limited the Saints to six shots, including just three on goal. Marymount was only rewarded one corner kick the entire 90 minutes.
NEWCOMERS
First years Morgan Anderson and Paxton Steffy led the team in shots with four and three respectively. Anderson notched three shots on goal. Both rookies made their first collegiate start as a Cougar.

LIGHTNING DELAY
Just after halftime last night, the matchup between Chatham and NC Wesleyan was canceled due to lightning in the area. Before the game was called, the Cougars were up 2-0.
