Cougars claw past Aurora 3-1

PITTSBURGH, PA. – Nov. 24, 2018 – The Chatham University women's hockey team defeated Aurora 3-1 this evening at Frozen Pond Arena.
 
RECORDS: Aurora falls to 2-4-3 while the Cougars improve to 3-5.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham hosts Aurora on November 25th at Frozen Pond Arena. Puck drop is set for 1pm.
 
SCORING SUMMARY: The first period was quiet for both Chatham and Aurora.

Chatham scored two goals in the second period. Freshman Kerry Carr scored the first goal, also her first of the season, for the Cougars 1:29 into the second period, thanks to an assist from senior captain KiraJean Frost. The Cougars would score a power-play goal at 6:57 by junior captain Madison Black, thanks to an assist from freshman Emilia Grove and freshman Ashley Marchant.

The Spartans scored their only goal at 15:37 in the second period.

In the third period, Chatham scored the lone goal. The goal happened 2:19 into the third from freshman Kerry Carr, thanks to an assist from sophomore Danielle Bos and senior captain KiraJean Frost. 
 
GOALTENDING: Katy Reed secured the victory for the Cougars making 23 saves, including 11 in the third period.
 
SHOTS LEADER: Sophomore Sydney Collins led the Chatham attack with seven shots on goal.
 
FACEOFFS: Junior captain Madison Black won 12 draws in the circle.
