W&J downs Chatham with a late goal

WASHINGTON, PA. – Oct. 9, 2018 – The Chatham University women's soccer team was defeated by a last minute goal from the Presidents of W&J this evening. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 7-5, 1-3 PAC while the Presidents improve to 5-6-2, 2-1 PAC. 

COUGARS ON THE ATTACK
In the first half, Chatham out shot W&J 13-0. Through the entire 90 minutes, the Cougars outshot W&J 27-8. First-year Morgan Anderson led the team with five shots, followed by senior Julie Bruening with four. Graduate student Megan Sieg, first-year Paxton Steffy, and junior Victoria Vernail each registered three shots. Anderson, Vernail and sophomore Jyla Kelley tallied two shots on goal a piece. Chatham held a 6-3 corner kick edge over the Presidents.  

BACKLINE STRONG
The Cougar defense didn't give up a single shot in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, Chatham allowed just two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Ashley Bergman recorded one save with one goal against. 

PRESIDENTS STRIKE FIRST
W&J scored the lone goal in the 80th minute.
