Chatham Travels to Geneva

Beaver Falls, Pa. – (4/18/2015) – The Chatham University softball team visited Geneva College today for continued PAC Conference play. The Cougars lost both games of the doubleheader with the Golden Tornadoes 9-0 and10-1. Chatham looks to rebound, when they return home this week for their final two games of the season.
 
In the first game, first year Outfielder Marissa Janiga (East Aurora, NY) went one for two. In game two, the Cougars saw offense from first year catcher Rachel Oplinger, who went one for three with a run. Senior Pitcher Elizabeth Deckelman (Baltimore, MD) earned an RBI on one at bat, and first year First basemen Lyndsey Gallaway (Wooster, OH) went one for two. First year Second Basemen Kassandra Petersen (Faribault, MN) went one for two.
 
Senior Pitcher Leigha Pehrson (Mt. Pleasant, Pa) pitched hard in 5.1 innings in game one of the doubleheader. She gave up 9 runs on 8 hits. Pehrson walked four, after facing 34 batters. In game two, Deckelman gave up 10 runs on 11 hits, earning one strikeout and walking four  after facing 28 batters.
 
Chatham will take the field next, on Wednesday, when they host Grove City College at Varsity Field for their second to last doubleheader. The Cougars will play April 22, 2015 and the games will start at 3:30 and 5:30 pm.
