Cougars Suffer Overtime Loss to Elmira

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa - NOVEMBER 29, 2015 -- The Chatham University Men's Basketball team took on the Soaring Eagles from Elmira College this afternoon in the consolation game of the Carnegie Mellon Double Tree Invitational. Chatham who is still searching for their first win as a new program, would fall to the Soaring Eagles in overtime by a score of 93-88.

5 different Cougars would finish the game in double figures this afternoon. First Year Forward Alex Schoppen (Gibsonia, Pa. / Central Catholic) finished with a career high 27 points. Schoppen was red hot from beyond the arc this afternoon making 7 three pointers, including a key three point shot to tie the game and send it into overtime. Due to his exceptional performance today, Schoppen was selected to the Double Tree Invitational All-Tournament Team.

Sophomore Forward Logan Hunter (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield) would finish the game with 17 points, and has now scored in double figures three games straight. First Year Guard Anthony Bomar (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) would add in 13 points, and First Year Guards Nasir Alexander (Kissimmee, Fla. / Osceola) and Isaiah Brown (Scott, Ark. / North Pulaski) would each contribute 12 points respectively.

The Soaring Eagles would make 16 out of 32 three point shots this afternoon, and outscored the Cougars 13-8 in the final 5 minutes in overtime. Chatham would out rebound Elmira this afternoon 38-34, and would force 13 turnovers on the defensive end. 

Chatham will begin Presidents' Athletic Conference play this Wednesday, December 2nd, when they travel to Westminster College to take on the Titans at 8:00 p.m., in the Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.
