Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa.. (9/25/14) – The Chatham University volleyball team played tough tonight in a loss to the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
Sophomore outside hitter
Heathir McIntyre (Ashburn, Va.) recorded seven kills for the Cougars, with impressive shots and serves in all three sets. Senior middle hitter
Aminata Dieng (Dakar, Senegal) and senior outside hitter
Brittany DeMeno (Freeport, Pa.) each tallied down two kills against UPG. First year outside hitter
Ava Iuliucci (Washington, Pa.) nabbed one kill.
First year setter
McKenna Gamble ( Pittsburgh, Pa.) worked hard, leading all Cougars with 11 assists, while McIntyre accounted for two assists tonight. Six Cougars tallied digs against the Bobcats, with McIntyre setting a team high of 17. Demeno earned nine, while Iuliucci, and Morgan both grabbed six. Rounding out the teams digs were Dieng and Gamble both ending the game with four a piece.
McIntyre likes the teams positive attitude when faced with adversity. "We are really working together, and the team never gives up. I'm impressed with how we keep fighting for every point." With the loss of junior libero "Hunter" Milroy, McIntyre and the team looks to work on their defense and serve/receive.
The women's volleyball team will next visit Westminster College on Saturday September 27 at 11:00 a.m. for a PAC Conference game. The contest will be a tri-match while Westminster also host Saint Vincent along with your Cougars.
