Cougars Fall while Honoring Dig Pink

Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa..  (10/2/14) – The Chatham University volleyball team played aggressively tonight in the loss to Washington and Jefferson. The team played in support of Dig Pink and the Cancer Fighting Princess campaign, showing toughness and grit in all three matches.
 
Senior right side hitter Brittany DeMeno (Freeport, Pa.) led all Cougars with five kills. Sophomore outside hitter Heathir McIntyre (Ashburn, Va.) and first year middle hitter Iman Morgan (Sharon, Pa.) each recorded four kills tonight. First year outside hitter Ava Iullucci ( Washington, Pa.) nabbed two serving aces for Chatham.
 
First year McKenna Gamble (Pittsburgh, Pa.) set 11 assists against the Presidents. McIntyre accounted for 11 of Chatham's digs, while Demeno and Gamble each had eight. Senior middle hitter Aminata Dieng (Dakar, Senegal) recorded seven digs.
 
Head Coach Marc Eberle said he was impressed with how far his team has come, "We are really coming together as a collective unit, and I think we have found our chemistry. I think our defense stood out tonight and we showed great effort and attitude earning each and every point."
 
The women's volleyball team will visit Thomas More next in a PAC match on October 8 at 6:00 p.m.

Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA is a member of the President's Athletic Conference (PAC) and offers eight Division III women's sports and six men's sports. The athletic program is housed on Chatham's historic and beautiful Shadyside Campus in the $18 million, 74,000 square foot Athletic and Fitness Center (AFC). Chatham Cougar athletes excel on the field and in the classroom, as illustrated by recent accomplishments such as the women's basketball team's second-highest team GPA across all Division III athletic programs in 2014, and the swimming & diving squad's GPA ranking in the top 50.
 
Women's sports at Chatham include basketball, cross country, ice hockey, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, track & field, and volleyball. Chatham will add six new men's sports in the 2015-2016 academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field, and volleyball.
