Chatham Swimmers Compete at Cal (PA)

CALIFORNIA, PA – The Chatham University Swimming and Diving Team had several top-five finishes at the California University (PA) Vulcan Dual Meet Challenge on Saturday. The Cougars only competed in sessions two and three (on Saturday), and not session one, which took place on Friday. In the morning session, Chatham finished third in the four team field with 33 points. The Cougars scored 35 points in the afternoon session to finish in fourth. Other participants in the meet were host Cal (PA), Lock Haven University, and Mansfield University, all NCAA Division II programs. 

Brianna Britos-Swain (Sr., Preston, CT/Norwich Free Academy) had the highest place finish for the Cougars, coming in third place in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:38.24. Chatham grabbed two places in the 800 yard freestyle relay as their “A” Team came in fourth and their “B” Team finished fifth. 

Lizzie Keller (Fy., Venetia, PA/Peters Twp.) finished fifth in the 400 yard IM with a time of 5:28.53. Fellow first-year swimmer Melissa Puskar (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) came in fifth place in the 100 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 58.66. 

Cal (PA) won the three session event with 711 points. 

Chatham returns to action on Saturday, February 2, when they travel to Penn State-Altoona to face both the Lions and Franciscan University. That meet is scheduled to start at 1:00pm.
