Jason Evans is entering his seventh season as the head women’s hockey coach at Chatham University.

The women’s hockey team has continue to develop over the past six seasons with the last two seasons totaling the highest win totals in program history.

Prior to taking over the Chatham program, Evans served as head coach of the ACHA Men’s Division I program at Robert Morris University.  Under Evans, the team compiled a 117-71-3 record with three conference regular season championships, four conference playoff titles, and four trips to the ACHA National Tournament.  Coach Evans has become the all-time winningest hockey coach in Chatham history and has twice been nominated as an ECAC-West Conference Coach of the Year Finalist.

Evans earned his Level 5 Certification from USA Hockey in 2004.  He has been active in camps across the continent from Banff, AB to Naples, FL.

The Program
The Chatham ice hockey program was founded in 1996, when it became the first collegiate women’s varsity hockey program in Pennsylvania.  The team is on the ice six times per week, with four weekday practices and games on weekends.  A certified athletic trainer is in attendance at all practices and games for the treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation of injuries.  The program also utilizes the skills of a dedicated equipment manager for skate sharpening, equipment maintenance, and immediate equipment repairs.

The 2014-2015 Cougars continue to evolve with the addition of 12 first year recruits and 14 returning student-athletes.  The coaching staff is excited by the progress the team has worked to achieve and they look to continue their development on the ice.  Last year, the team continued to add wins and narrowly missed out of the ECAC West playoffs by a single point.

The search for successful student-athletes that display the work ethic needed to build a strong NCAA Division III ice hockey program will continue through the upcoming season.  With only three seniors, the team will look to add 3-4 of the most skilled and academically successful student-athletes available across North America and beyond.  Our focus is not on size, but speed and skill, which results in a high-paced game with the biggest impact being provided by those that work the hardest and produce.  We encourage you to contact us if you believe you can succeed in this type of environment.
