Ryan received his bachelors of science in Athletic Training from Waynesburg University in 2014. During his time as an undergraduate student, Ryan interned with the Pittsburgh Power of the Arena Football League. In 2015, Ryan received his Masters of Science in Exercise Science and Health Promotion with a focus in rehabilitation science from California University of Pennsylvania.Â
Prior to coming to Chatham Ryan served as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Thiel College providing athletic training services to all the the universities 23 teams. Including his time at Waynesburg, Thiel and Chatham Ryan has spent 13 years in the President's Athletic Conference.Â
Ryan's primary sport coverage at Chatham includes Women's Volleyball, Women's Hockey and Baseball and Swimming and Driving. Ryan also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the university's exercise science program.Â
Outside of Chatham, working for UPMC's Athletic Training and Development Department Ryan serves as a member of the departments pre-hospital care committee. Where he oversees UPMC's On Ice Spine Boarding and Equipment Removal program teaching and demonstrating best practices for ice hockey equipment removal and management of emergent on-ice situations. Under Ryan's guidance this program has reached more than 200 athletic training students and staff in 6 states at over 15 colleges and universities.Â
While working for UPMC Ryan has had the opportunity to work countless volunteer opportunities. Including working with local youth hockey teams, the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL and providing finish line coverage for the Pittsburgh Marathon and the Kids Marathon.Â
