Bryan Smith comes to Chatham University for the 2025 season as part of a complete revamp of the team's coaching staff.
Bryan's love for fastpitch softball began almost 20 years ago, when his daughter began her playing career. Bryan wanted other young players in his community to have the opportunity to learn the game, so he assisted in the creation of the first developmental program for youth fastpitch in his community, a program that remains very successful to this day. Bryan soon began his travel coaching career, acting as the assistant coach of Metro Express/Team Impact, which was one of Western Pennsylvania's first travel organizations.
Bryan then joined the Pittsburgh Power organization as the head coach of a 14u team. This team is now going into their 9th season together, with every one of them playing softball at the collegiate level. Bryan led this team to many championships over the years, and they continue to find great success in their adult softball careers.
Bryan also coached at the High School level for 4 years. In his second season as head coach, he led this team to their first WPIAL playoffs in 11 years.
Bryan looks forward to having a role in the further development of Chatham Softball Team’s student athletes, both on and off the field.
He is supported by his wife, Karen, and his two daughters.
