Assistant Coach Niko Kovachis is in his second year with the Chatham University Men’s Ice Hockey Team.
Niko is a native of Mississauga, Ontario Canada. He played his college hockey at Niagara University where he was named an assistant captain in his senior year. He was also named to the all-academic team 4 years in a row.
Prior to Niagara he played for the Toronto Patriots who won two Buckland Cups as OJHL champions in 2013-14 and 2014-15...Won a Dudley-Hewitt Cup with Toronto, awarded to the top Central Canadian Junior 'A' team along with a spot in the Royal Bank Cup in 2013-14...Two-time OJHL South-West Conference All-Star participant (2014 and 2015)...Played in the 2012 CJHL Top Prospects Game and also played on the OJHL Prospects Team at the 2012 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge. Prior to Juniors he was a 4th round draft pick to the Ottawa 67’s in the OHL.
Niko and his girlfriend Shea reside in Pittsburgh, PA.
