Matt Calas

Matt has been with the Men’s Ice Hockey program since its inaugural season in 2017. Having graduated with a bachelors degree in Exercise Science this past summer, Matt is now a graduate student in the Athletic Training program here at Chatham. Upon completion of his M.S., Matt plans on completing his C.S.C.S (Certified Strength and Conditioning Certificate) to be able to work as an athletic trainer at the collegiate level.  

A Canadian, Matt grew up in Mississauga, Ontario and played for the Ancaster Avalanche in the GOJHL during his time in juniors. Between the pipes, Matt lead the Avalanche to four consecutive playoff berths and posted a respectable 1.98 GAA in his final year.  

During the inaugural season in 2017, Matt backed the Cougars to their first victory in program history against King’s College in a 2-1 win. Matt has played in 26 games over three years with the Cougars and posted a .910 save percentage along with a 3.80 goals against average.
