PITTSBURGH, Pa. - On Wednesday, the Cougars (6-2, 2-1 PAC) took on the Grove City Wolverines (8-3, 4-0). The Wolverines jumped out to an early lead and the Cougars never got close falling by a final score of 9-3.
The Cougars found the back of the net twice in the first quarter, both from the stick of
Rachel Luomala. The first goal was an unassisted goal and the second was a free position goal. The Cougars trailed 4-2 after the first quarter. The Cougars would not score again until there was less than a minute left in the fourth quarter. By that time the Wolverines led 9-2. It was
Bella Walski-Rodriguez scoring unassisted at that point. The Wolverines still held a 9-3 lead that they took to the end of the game.
The Cougars were led offensively by
Rachel Luomala (2G) and
Bella Walski-Rodriguez (1G).
Marcella Valentine and
Becca Baker each had a team high three ground balls.
Sofia Hoetzlein-Sirman had a team high three caused turnovers.
Campbell Murphy once again led the Cougars in draw controls, this game with six.
Meghan Cuza-Berry recorded five saves in net for the Cougars.
The Cougars will be back in action on Friday April 3rd when they host Marymount at 5 PM.
