Women's Lacrosse Bludgeons Bison

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - On Saturday the Cougars (4-1, 1-0 PAC) started their PAC schedule hosting the Bethany Bison (3-3, 0-1 PAC) in what turned into a near historic blowout. The Cougars entered the running clock in the first quarter and never looked back winning by an easy 22-1.


The Cougars wasted no time opening the scoring just 11 seconds into the game as Bella Walski-Rodriguez scored her ninth goal of the season. The Cougars scored the first ten goals of the game, all in the first quarter. Also scoring in the quarter was Natalie Ondo with five first quarter goals, Walski-Rodriguez scored two more for a first quarter hat trick and Sara Kaesshaefer scored the final two goals of the quarter. The Bison scored the first goal of the second quarter momentarily ending the running clock before the Cougars scored the final 12 goals of the game. Izzy Davanti scored two second quarter goals while Ondo and Walski-Rodriguez added one more each. Ondo scored two goals in the third quarter giving her a career high eight goals, just one short of the single game record. Kaesshaefer completed her hat trick in the third quarter while Campbell Murphy, Izzy Davanti and Marcella Valentine each scored once in the third quarter. Kendall Foster and Samantha Orr each scored one goal in the fourth quarter as the Cougars won 22-1.


Natalie Ondo led the Cougars with eight points while Bella Walski-Rodriguez scored a career high six points (4G 2A). Izzy Davanti (3G 2A), Campbell Murphy (1G 2A) and Rachel Luomala (5A) each had five points. Sofia Hoetzlein-Sirman had a game high six ground balls. Campbell Murphy had a game high 11 draw controls and Rachel Luomala had a game high three caused turnovers. Meghan Cuza-Berry picked up her fourth win of the season making one save and having a .500 save percentage.


The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday March 28th when they travel to Washington, Pa. for a 2 PM start time against W&J.
