BETHANY, W.V. – Chatham Men's Volleyball (12-7, 6-3 PAC) swept their second consecutive match on Friday night at Bethany (2-15, 1-7), dominating in the second set to capture the 3-0 (25-19, 25-6, 25-18) victory.
Tim McCabe again led the Cougars in kills, racking up a match-high 13 on .526 hitting. The junior additionally tallied 3 aces and 2 blocks.
Derek Paul contributed 10 kills and 2 aces for Chatham.
Armani George hit .462 with 7 kills and 4 blocks, and
RJ Nagg dished out a match-high 12 assists.
The Cougars took control of the match early, leading 9-2 after kills by
Ben Shelestak, Paul and George. The Bison got as close as 20-14 before two McCabe kills made the score 24-15 and George's kill closed the set. In set two, a 16-0
Jordan Haas service run that included three Paul kills gave Chatham a 20-3 advantage. A George kill and
Evan Barrick service ace wrapped up the set in favor of the Cougars. In the third, Bethany led 9-4, but three straight kills and an ace by Paul tied it at 10. Back-to-back McCabe aces would put the Cougars ahead 22-16, and
Brodey Fitzgerald's kill secured the match win.
Chatham hit .321 in the match while holding the Bison to .045 hitting. The Cougars held a 39-20 edge in kills and a 7-2 advantage in aces.
Chatham will head to Thiel on Wednesday in their next match at 7 p.m.
