LATROBE, Pa. – Chatham Men's Volleyball (10-7, 4-3 PAC) fell 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-12) in their match at Saint Vincent (10-2, 6-0) on Saturday afternoon.
Shawn McSwiggen led the Bearcats with 12 kills on .321 hitting and 3 aces. Zebadiah Wyant recorded 10 kills on 375 attacking. Braedon Artman had a match-high 4 blocks. Jackson Genicola tallied a match-high 13 digs, and Jack Ryan added 27 assists and 8 digs for Saint Vincent.
Tim McCabe recorded 12 kills and an ace for the Cougars. John Gasiorowksi notched 12 digs and 3 assists.
RJ Nagg contributed 24 assists and 7 digs for Chatham.
The Cougars led set one 8-5 following a
Derek Paul ace, and three McCabe kills made the score 20-19 in favor of the Bearcats. Saint Vincent was able to win five of the last seven points of the first set and grab the match lead. The Bearcats would then win 6 of the first 7 points in the second set and held at least a 3-point advantage throughout. Three more McCabe kills allowed Chatham to get a 5-1 run and within 24-21, but Saint Vincent held on for a 2-0 advantage. A 12-2 run early in the third set gave the Bearcats the cushion they would need to capture the match victory.
The Cougars will look to bounce back on Wednesday at the Athletic and Fitness Center, where they'll match up with Hiram at 7 p.m.
