PITTSBURGH, Pa. – On Tuesday, Chatham Women's Basketball will travel to Grove City, Pa. to battle the Grove City Wolverines in the PAC Women's Basketball Tournament Quarterfinal at Grove City College Arena with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Cougars, who captured the four seed out of the PAC South division, come into the game with a 17-7 overall record and a conference record of 10-6. Chatham is riding a five-game road winning streak, having most recently won at Waynesburg on Wednesday. Â The Wolverines, who earned the number one seed out of the PAC North, are 17-8 overall and 11-5 in PAC play.
The Cougars handed Grove City its largest loss of conference play in the teams' only meeting on Jan. 17, when they defeated the Wolverines 84-54. In that matchup, senior
Alyssa Laukus led Chatham with 25 points on 11-15 shooting with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Senior
Madison Nereu added a double-double for the Cougars with 21 points, 10 boards, 4 assists and 2 steals in the massive victory.
Chatham owns the fifth-best scoring offense (69.7 points per game) and the top defense (54.8 points allowed per game) in the conference, while Grove City ranks sixth in scoring offense (67.7 PPG) and is fourth in scoring defense (59.8. PAPG).
The Cougars' Nereu enters the matchup averaging the most points (18.4) and fourth-most rebounds (9.6) per game in the PAC. Laukus is 12th in the conference in scoring (12.9 PPG) and first in field goal percentage (57.9 percent) for Chatham. The Wolverines' top scorer is Meredith Sherrerd, who ranks ninth in the PAC in points per game with 14.2. Sherrerd only trails Laukus in field goal percentage, shooting the ball at a 53 percent clip, and netted 17 points at the Athletic and Fitness Center on Jan. 17.

The winner of the PAC's Championship Tournament will receive the league's automatic qualifying bid to this year's Division III Championship Tournament. The selected Division III Championship teams, as well as the first and second round site selections, will be announced Monday, March 2nd. First and second round games are scheduled for Friday-Saturday, March 6-7.
