WAYNESBURG, Pa. – Chatham Women's Volleyball (6-1, 1-0 PAC) claimed their fourth straight set (25-22, 25-16, 25-14) victory of the season on Wednesday night at Waynesburg (1-10, 0-1).
The Cougars opened conference play with a narrow first set victory highlighted by a 7-1 Chatham run after trailing 20-16. Two
Evelyn White kills wrapped up that set before the Cougars took a 6-1 advantage in set two and never looked back. Chatham closed the second frame with 6 consecutive points helped by two
Ava Plunkard aces to carry momentum into the third and what would be final set.
Maren Balint took over for the Cougar attack, with her fifth kill of the set putting Chatham up 19-11. Another Cougar run closed out the match, as two
Vanessa Mleczko aces were part of a 5-1 Chatham spree to finish off the Yellow Jackets.
Balint recorded a match high 10 kills with a 3.89 attack percentage for the Cougars.
Vanessa Mleczko notched a match high 5 service aces for the second time this season and had 9 digs.
Evelyn White tallied 6 kills and 3 blocks for Chatham.
Delaney Schwind assisted on 17 Cougar kills, and
Sierra Ricci finished the match with 26 digs. This marks Chatham's eighth consecutive win over Waynesburg dating back to 2021.
The Cougars will host Saint Vincent on Saturday for their PAC home opening match beginning at 12 p.m. at the Athletic and Fitness Center.
