Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Falls in Senior Day Match.

Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Cougars fell by a score of 2-1 to Penn State Behrend on senior day. 

The lone senior from the Chatham men's soccer class of 2026 is Matthew Crosby, a native of Sterling, Virginia. He appeared in 13 career games and will be graduating from Chatham University with a degree in Accounting with a minor in Data Science. 

 

Penn State-Behrend drew first blood in the 33rd minute, when Owen Peterson scored his first of the season, assisted by Reilly Nickles. Chatham was not only down on the score sheet but also trailed in shots after the first half. 

 

The Cougars came out flying in the second half, scoring an equalizing goal early in the frame. The honored senior Matthew Crosby scored his first career goal on a penalty to tie the game 1-1 in the 51st minute. Penn State-Behrend quickly regained the lead after Reilly Nickles, assisted by Daniel Battista, scored in the 60th minute. They did not relinquish the lead the rest of the game. 

 

The game's intensity grew as it went on, as nine of the ten total yellow cards were doled out in the second half of play. There were also a total of twenty-four fouls between both sides. 

 

Chatham will continue their home stand with a 7 pm scheduled kickoff at UPMC Graham Field on Wednesday, September 17th, where they will take on the Carnegie Mellon Tartans.
