Cougars to Visit Terriers in PAC Men's Volleyball Quarterfinal

PITTSBURGH, PA – After clinching the #6 seed in the PAC Tournament, Chatham Men's Volleyball (7-13, 4-8 PAC) will clash with third-seeded Hiram on Tuesday night at Price Gymnasium in Hiram, Ohio. The Terriers (15-10, 7-5) clinched the #3 seed in the inaugural tournament when they defeated Bethany on April 1.

The Cougars and Hiram will be meeting for the fourth time this season. The Terriers won the first two matchups in straight sets, but Chatham pulled out a 3-2 victory in the teams' most recent match on March 14 in Ohio.  Sophomore Benjamin Shelestak recorded an impressive 17 kill/17 dig double-double in that match, and first year Logan Pack tallied a career high 20 kills. Defensively, first year Luke Hoolahan tied a career high with 19 digs. Both teams dropped road matches to close out the regular season.

Hiram ranks second in the conference in hitting percentage (.210), kills per set (11.49), blocks per set (2.10) and assists per set (10.60). However, they average the fewest aces (1.21) and allow the most kills to opponents (10.86).  Senior Matthew Albano is the PAC leader in assists per set with 9.27, and senior Kyle Martini sits third in the conference with a .321 hitting percentage.

The Cougars' attack has improved throughout the season. Chatham never hit better than .170 in its first nine matches, but topped that efficiency five times in its final six. Individually, three Cougars rank third in the PAC in major statistical categories: Benjamin Shelestak with 3.50 kills per set, RJ Nagg with 8.94 assists per set, and Luke Hoolahan with 2.67 digs per set.

The winner of the match will advance to the PAC Tournament semifinals on Thursday for a matchup at #2 seed Grove City.

Tuesday's first serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
