PITTSBURGH – Chatham Baseball (10-12, 2-4 PAC) dropped both games of their doubleheader on Saturday against Allegheny (11-8, 4-0) by scores of 12-9 and 4-1.
The Gators led 4-1 in game one going into the sixth inning, with the lone Cougar run scoring on a
Kayden Leck single. That's when
Cooper Baxter homered,
Devin Fluhmann scored on an
Eddie Rueda groundout and
Kayden Leck singled home
Angelo DeLeonardis and
Nolan Boehm to give Chatham a 5-4 lead. Allegheny took the lead right back when they scored 4 runs in the top of the seventh, but
Peter Tadic doubled in Fluhmann and
Cooper Baxter to cut the deficit to in the bottom half. The Gators responded with 3 more runs in the eighth, and their offense proved too much for the Cougars. Leck scored on a Bredl base hit in the eighth and Rueda crossed the plate in the ninth, but Allegheny held on for a 3-run victory.
Baxter went 2-3 with a home run to left center field, drove in a run and scored twice.
Kayden Leck was 2-4 with 3 RBI and scored a run for Chatham in game one.
Angelo DeLeonardis finished the game 2-5 with an RBI and scored twice.
The Cougars' pitching improved in game two, but their offense was shut down by Allegheny starter Walker Cunningham.
Eddie Rueda scored the lone Chatham run on a single from
Angelo DeLeonardis in the fourth inning.
Riley Baum allowed two hits and no earned runs in his four innings on the mound in game two, striking out four. At the plate, Rueda was 3-4 and scored a run, and DeLeonardis went 2-4 with an RBI.
The Cougars travel to Geneva on Wednesday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader against the Golden Tornadoes.
