Men's Basketball Set to Host W&J in PAC Final

PITTSBURGH – On Saturday, Chatham Men's Basketball will appear in its 3rd PAC Final in the last four seasons when the team takes on the W&J Presidents at the AFC at 7:30 p.m.

Chatham enters the game with a 22-4 record, while W&J owns a 21-6 record. The Cougars, who earned the one-seed and a first-round bye in the tournament, defeated Grove City 91-80 in the Semifinal on Thursday, while the Presidents took down Franciscan 73-62 in the Quarterfinal, then topped the Saint Vincent Bearcats 87-79 in the Semifinal. The Cougars have won 14 of their last 15 games and eight in a row at home. 

Chatham swept the season series against W&J, winning both matchups by just two points. In Washington, the Cougars won 74-72 with Luca Robinson turning in a 24-point, 12-rebound double-double. Then, in Pittsburgh, Chatham pulled off the final second win as Hunter Verling scored a layup at the final buzzer to give the Cougars a 92-90 win.

Chatham ranks fourth in the PAC in both scoring offense (77.6 points per game) and scoring defense (69.6 points allowed per game), while W&J is second in scoring (80.1 points per game) and sixth in scoring defense (72.2 points allowed per game).

The Cougars' leading scorer Diaun Pinkett is fourth in the PAC with 16.9 points per game, while the Presidents' top scorer Nathan Plotner is tied for 11th in the league at 14.4 points per game.

The winner of the PAC's Championship Tournament will receive the league's automatic qualifying bid to this year's Division III Championship Tournament. The selected Division III Championship teams, as well as the first and second round site selections, will be announced Monday, March 3rd. First and second round games are scheduled for Friday-Saturday, March 7-8.
