Purchase, N.Y. - On Saturday, the Cougars (8-13-2) faced off with the Manhattanville Valiants (9-13-1) for the second day in a row. Despite the Cougars tying the game up twice early they were never able to take the lead and fell by a final score of 8-3.
In the first period, the Cougars fell behind early when the Valiants scored six-and-a-half minutes into the game. The Cougars tied the game up 10 minutes later when
Nick Cyprian scored on the assists from
Camden Smith and
Nick Babbie. That tied the game at one goal a piece and that was the final score from the first period.
In the second period the Valiants regained the lead 20 seconds into the period. The Cougars would answer back when
Brock Forrest scored from
Evan Mitchell two minutes later. The wheels then fell off for the Cougars as the Valiants scored three more goals to take a 5-2 lead into the final intermission.
In the third period, the Cougars cut into the lead when
Carson Grainer scored assisted by
Zack Conner halfway through the final period. The Valiants then scored the final three goals of the game to win by a final score of 8-3.
The Cougars were led by Conner and
Kadsen Johnson who had two blocks a piece. The Cougars will be back in action on February 21st when they host SUNY Brockport with a 7 PM puck drop in Pittsburgh, Pa.
