Box Score Rochester, N.Y. - On Saturday the Cougars (2-13-1) played the final game of the weekend series on the road against the Nazareth Golden Flyers (11-5-1). They fell by a final score of 5-1.
In the first period, neither team could find the back of the net. The Cougars could only manage two shots on goal in the period.
Samantha Brophy made 13 saves in the period to preserve a tied game heading into the second period.
In the second period the tides turned. The Golden Flyers opened the scoring with an even strength goal just moments after the Cougar penalty ended. Then it was
Klara Miuller scoring her third goal of the season, unassisted, with four minutes left in the second period. The Golden Flyers untied the game with a second goal in the period with a little over a minute left in the period. That gave Nazareth the 2-1 lead heading into the final period. The Golden Flyers would add two more goals in the third period making the final score 5-1.
Brophy made 54 saves and had a .915 save percentage in the game.
Emery Gelinas led the Cougars with two blocks. The women's hockey team will be back in action on Friday January 31st when they travel to Canton, N.Y. for a 3 PM puck drop against SUNY Canton.
