Brockport, N.Y. - On Saturday the Cougars (4-10-1) played the second game of the weekend at the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles (3-9-2). The Cougars fell by a final score of 6-3.
In the first period, it was a back and forth match with neither team gaining ground. The Cougars took the lead ten-and-a-half minutes into the game when
Tyler Samodral scored on the
Nick Cyprian assist. Three minutes later the Golden Eagles tied the game at one. A minute later, the Cougars retook the lead when
Zack Conner scored on a
Nick Cyprian assist. 45 seconds after that the Golden Eagles scored the final goal of the period and tied the game at two heading into the break.
In the second period the Golden Eagles added two more goals and took a 4-2 lead heading into the third period. The Cougars were unable to convert on any of the 12 shots on goal they took in the period.
In the third period, the Golden Eagles added an insurance goal seven minutes into the period. The Cougars scored their third goal of the game with 10 minutes to play in the game. It was
Zack Conner scoring on the assist from
Kyle Contessa. The Golden Eagles added a late empty net goal to make the final score 6-3.
Geno Pichora made 22 saves in the game. Conner and Cyprian each had two points for the Cougars offensively. The Cougars will be back in action on January 24th when they travel to Geneseo, N.Y. to play a weekend series at SUNY Geneseo with a puck drop at 7 PM.
