FREDONIA NY - The Chatham Men's Soccer team took on Fredonia State today in what proved to be an evenly matched contest between the sides.
The action started early for the Cougars as they found themselves up by a goal in the 6' minute of the game.
Justin Knox is awarded the goal with a low driven shot that beats the Fredonia State goalie, Thomas McDonald.
The Cougars would go on to hold the lead for most of the first half, withstanding the oncoming pressure of the Blue Devil's attack. However, Fredonia would get their opportunity in the form of a penalty kick after a foul on Chatham's
Xavier Miller.
Brian Taylor took the spot kick in the 35' minute and tied the game for Fredonia. The score would remain 1-1 for the rest of the first half.
After a the second half, neither team was able to break the other's defense and the game would end with a 1-1 draw. In total, Chatham recorded 4 shots on goal and Fredonia recorded 5.
The Chatham Men's Soccer team is back in action on Thursday September 5 against Point Park at 7:00pm.
