Men's Volleyball Cruises to Victory on Senior Day

PITTSBURGH - In the Cougars' last match of their inaugural season, they swept the Bethany Bison (0-25) at the Athletics and Fitness Center.

Freshman Benjamin Shelestak had a match-high 11 kills and four aces to go along with 11 digs and two blocks. First-year Tim McCabe finished with eight kills, four aces and nine digs. Senior Maximilian Barrett contributed six kills and had a match-high five blocks.

Senior Coulter Chaffee led the match with 24 assists.

Set one saw both teams struggle to hit as neither side led by more than five until point 15. After an attacking error by freshman Kyle Penn knotted the score at 15, the Cougars went on a 6-0 run fueled by McCabe's serving. Chatham would allow only three more points before closing the set 25-18.

The second set was much better for Chatham as it hit .350 and held Bethany to just seven points. The Cougars led by double digits for the majority of the set before winning by 18 points.

Set three was the most competitive. The Bison jumped out to an early 7-4 lead before McCabe's fourth ace capitalized a 3-0 Cougar run. Both teams traded blows until a Bethany service error ignited a 4-0 Chatham run giving the Cougars a 20-16 advantage. Bethany fought back and pulled within one (22-23) before McCabe's eighth kill ended the match 25-23.

Chatham ended the season with a 6-14 overall record. After competing as a Division III Independent program, the Cougars will be joining the Presidents' Athletic Conference for the 2025 season.
